Scaling Supervisor

Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Harvesting Manager, the Scaling Supervisor is responsible for all scaling activities for fibre deliveries to the mill. This position involves “hands on” scaling functions to ensure that effective communication and leadership is provided directly to the log scalers.  Scaling oversight will include both quota and purchase log deliveries, as well as log yard. The Scaling Supervisor will liaise with Government Check Scalers and will ensure Canadian Kraft Paper’s scaling practices comply with all pertinent rules, regulations and standards.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 Diploma or equivalency;
  • Three (3) or more years’ experience with scaling;
  • Supervisory experience would be considered an asset;
  • This position requires the incumbent to obtain a Manitoba and Saskatchewan Scaling License;
  • Ability to pay keen attention to detail is essential and exceptional computer skills are necessary in this position with the ability to develop reports and analyze data from a variety of sources;
  • The successful applicant is required to be a self-starter with excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills and must possess the ability to work with minimal supervision and changing priorities;
  • Ability to gain working knowledge of internal scaling software program LIMS and be proficient in computer applications such as Microsoft Office, Excel, Word required;
  • The incumbent must be able to operate in a team environment as well as manage relationships with contractors, government agencies and other outside resources.
