Pulpmill/Relief Supervisor (Local 342)

Responsibilities

The Pulpmill/Relief Supervisor is responsible for overall coordination of all activities associated with the production process between the chip receipt and the Machine Room stock towers.  The position is also responsible for the operation of environmental equipment used to ensure compliance with government regulations and will provide relief coverage to the Production Supervisors and Specialists as required.

 

Reporting to the Production Superintendent, the Pulpmill/Relief Supervisor will:

  • Participate in the planning and coordination associated with equipment and process shutdowns and start up activities for both minor and major repairs/shutdowns
  • Maintain accurate records of process equipment inspections and utilization
  • Monitor daily operating processes to identify opportunities for increased quantity and quality or efficiency
  • Work closely with S&R, Production and Maintenance Departments to improve quality, quantity and efficiency
  • Provide relief coverage to Production Supervisors and Specialists
  • Provide health and safety leadership to employees within the pulping process
  • Ensure training and development of pulpmill employees.

Qualifications

  • Appropriate related post-secondary education / training
  • 5 years related experience
  • Supervisory experience and / or training are considered an asset
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Computer skills, Microsoft Office Program
  • Proven decision making and trouble shooting skills.
