Under the direction of the Forestry Superintendent, the Operations Forester will work in a team environment.  The primary areas of responsibility include the development of 2 Year Forest Management Operating Plans and development and approval of the associated permits such that wood supply to the CKP mill meets the needs of the operation.  Engagement with the public, communities, resource users, and government is critical to the execution of the work.  Reporting and tracking activities as well as supplying that information to regulatory bodies and third party certification bodies to meet obligations and commitments also forms a significant component of the role.  GIS and Unmanned Aerial Vehicle technology are used on a regular basis in this position.  The position will work cooperatively with other members of the Woodlands team to ensure goals are met.


  • University Degree or Technical Diploma in Forestry or Forestry-related field;
  • 3 – 5 years related industry experience;
  • A combination of experience and education may be considered;
  • Valid driver’s license with no restrictions;
  • A proven commitment to safety;
  • Must possess a good understanding of technical forest management including planning, harvesting systems, silviculture practices, GIS and other technology-based applications;
  • Thorough understanding of forest policy, guidelines, and regulations;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
