The Forestry Assistant is responsible for:

  • Assist in the organization and execution of field projects including pre-harvest forest investigation (PHFI) and forest renewal assessment (FRA)
  • Providing technical and administrative support to the planning and silviculture groups
  • Collecting accurate data using survey equipment and electronic devices
  • Proper care and maintenance of all equipment
  • Practicing safe work and meet Company and Workplace Safety & Health standards
  • Potential supervision of temporary employees or special projects

 

Qualifications

  • A combination of education or experience that relates to forestry or the responsibilities of the position; related industry experience would be considered an asset
  • Valid driver’s license with no restrictions
  • Prior experience with operation of ATV, pickup trucks is considered an asset
  • A proven commitment to safety
  • Basic understanding of GPS technology and working knowledge of computers
  • Willingness to learn new technical skills
  • Understanding processes involving forest management and the natural environment
  • Willingness and ability to work outdoors in remote locations
