The Environmental Engineer will work closely with the Environmental Superintendent, providing environmental support to management and staff, meeting regulatory requirements, contributing to strategic planning, process changes/upgrades and budgets. Through the analysis of environmental data, the Environmental Engineer will provide recommendations to ensure compliance with federal and provincial environmental regulatory requirements.

  • Monitor the daily operation of the effluent treatment system;
  • Provide timely environmental reporting (annual/monthly);
  • Liaise with external agencies on specific environmental issues;
  • Responsible for coordinating and submitting of necessary applications to comply with regulations;
  • Coordinate environmental effects monitoring (EEM) studies and sublethal toxicity testing as per the federal P&P Effluent Regulations. Analyze data and provides recommendations;
  • Update the emergency response plan and controlled products inventory annually;
  • Assist as needed with the implementation process of WPH&S regulations and assist with Safety Data Sheet (SDS) Library;
  • Analyze and implement initiatives to strengthen the Environmental Management System;
  • Remain current and aware of upcoming environmental regulations.


  • University degree in Environmental/Chemical Engineering or Environmental Science from an accredited institution;
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in an environmental role;
  • Demonstrated focus on safety;
  • Knowledgeable with respect to environmental and workplace safety and health regulations;
  • Must possess a demonstrated ability of report writing, problem solving, organizational and risk management skills;
  • Excellent understanding of Microsoft office is required.
